Göteborg (Onsite)

Description of the assignment

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior CAE engineer within Vehicle Energy Consumption and Performance. In this role, you will simulate and balance the critical trade-offs between energy/fuel consumption and dynamic vehicle performance. You will carry out simulations, build models, perform studies on component, system, and complete vehicle level, using CAE. You will also execute or support physical tests to verify complete vehicle performance and verify CAE models.

The role includes communication and collaboration across multiple departments and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

-Simulate multi-mode performance across EV, HEV, and conventional ICE powertrain configurations.

-Optimize vehicle efficiency by balancing energy and fuel consumption against performance targets.

-Analyze vehicle dynamics to ensure seamless performance transitions between different hybrid states.

-Collaborate with systems engineers to refine control strategies based on simulation data.

-Deliver virtual validation of full-vehicle energy management attributes to meet program milestones.

-Support concept-phase evaluations to shape early vehicle architecture and powertrain selection.

Qualifications and skills required for the role

-Master’s degree (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Energy, Automotive or similar

-Experience: Minimum 5+ years of automotive CAE experience in full-vehicle simulation, vehicle range and performance, energy consumption, and energy balance.

-Deep understanding of HEV operating modes and EV battery systems

-Experience of modelling, execution and analysis of 1D CAE analyses using software tools (GT-Suite, MATLAB/Simulink or similar)

-Experience of evaluating early-stage vehicle architectures and energy trade-offs

-Ability to analyze and communicate 1D CAE and physical test results to stakeholders

-Knowledge of legal- and consumer test requirements in Ch/EU/US e.g CLTC, WLTC, GreenNCAP and AMS.

-Knowledge of vehicle longitudinal dynamics and energy management control strategies

-Experience from physical testing (driving range, performance, and energy consumption) is beneficial for this role.

-Experience from 3D CFD (Fluent, StarCCM+) is an advantage.

Personal attributes

Result Oriented, Initiator. Team player, Problem solver, Entrepreneurial.
